Summary

Barrister Dr Basit, who was representing Federation in 18th amendment cases, has withdrawn his power of attorney on Tuesday. From now on, Dr Basit is no more the counsel of the Federation, as he voluntarily took back his contract .Talking to media outside the apex court, Dr Basit said that he took the decision on misconduct and mis-perception on part of the Supreme Court. The move came as a fall out of the Monday hearing of the same case in which the governments counsel was asked by the Chief Justice to give out the name of that person who objected over bench formation to hear the identical petitions against some clauses of the 18th amendment. Federations lawyer Dr Abdul Basit, told media on Monday it seems from case proceedings that an attempt is being made to create a clash in the Presidency. He said the questions asked from him by the Chief Justice were illegitimate and he would send reference to the President in this regard.
