ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The nomination papers of 144 candidates have been approved for Senate elections after scrutiny while nomination papers of 38 candidates have been rejected. The Election Commission has set February 23 and 24 dates for the appeal by the rejected candidates, Dunya News reported.
According to details, the Election Commission received the nomination papers of at least 182 candidates and the Returning Officers approved 144 candidates after evaluating the papers.
Reportedly, reasons for rejection of 38 candidates included lack of filing tax returns, corruption and bank default.
The rejected nominations have the time to appeal by February 23 and 24.
