Summary Today is the last day of scrutiny of nomination papers for Senate elections.

 

KARACHI (Web Desk) – Scrutiny of nomination papers of Sindh candidates for 11 Senate seats is underway on Friday, Dunya News reported.

 

Today is the last day of scrutiny process.

On the first day, nomination papers of eight Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) candidates and six Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) candidates were approved.

Nomination papers of PPP’s Abdul Latif Ansari and Islamuddin Sheikh, MQM’s Mian Attiq and Gul Faraz Khan Khattak and PML-N’s Syed Zafar Ali Shah will be scrutinized today.

Final list of candidates will be released on February 28 while the polling will be held on March 5 in Sindh Assembly.

The tenure of 52 members of the Senate is due to expire on March 11, 2015 and election to fill these 52 seats will be held in accordance with clause (3) of Article 224 of Constitution.

According to the Election Commission, the poll for the Federally Administered Tribal Areas and the Federal Capital will be held in the Parliament House, Islamabad and the poll in each province will be held in the provincial assembly building.
