PM pledges Rs0.4m for each affected family in Hunza

Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has said that the people of Gilgit-Blatistan would not be left alone in the hour of need and announced partial relief of Rs 0.2 million for each affected family. During a press conference in Islamabad on Wednesday, the PM rubbished the notion that the government is not taking due interest in Hunza lake issue and added that many ministers visited the affected area to assess the situation and express solidarity with the affectees of Hunza lake, formed in wake of a landslide in Attabad area. Enlisting the efforts made by the government so far, the PM said that the spillway has been made to flush out the excessive water to avert flooding of the adjoined low-lying areas. He pledged Rs0.1million each for the affectees would be given Rs0.4million each. The PM said the affected families would be awarded Rs5,000 for next six months as compensation money, while utility stores would be set up in Sost and Gilgit to cater to the locals' needs.
