Summary

Supreme Court has declared PML-Ns candidate from PP-63 Faisalabad Mian Ajmal Asif as eligible to contest the by-polls. Ajmal Asif, who contested on the ticket of PML-Q, had resigned on charges of fake degree. His opponent Rana Aftab had challenged his eligibility in the Supreme Court. On Supreme Courts interference, Mian Ajmal had resigned but he wrote in his resignation that he tendered resignation to change the party. PML-N gave him ticket for by-polls, which was challenged by PPP candidate Rana Aftab in the Supreme Court. Lawyer of Rana Aftab maintained that the SC had already declared that people with fake degrees cannot contest the polls. He said Ajmal Asif did not mention BAs degree in his papers which proves that he has fake degree. Ajmal Asifs lawyer Ashtar Ausaaf maintained that nobody could be declared ineligible unless the court declares him ineligible. The Court rejecting the petition of Rana Aftab declared Mian Asif eligible for contesting the by-polls.
