Summary

The Supreme Court has dismissed the petition by the judges of lower judiciary and upholds the decision of Balochistan High Court in this regard. Supreme Court on Wednesday ruled that judges appointments in subordinate courts should be carried out through relevant High Court. A three-member bench of SC, headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, heard a petition filed against Balochistan High Courts decision regarding appointments in lower judiciary. Chief Justice in his remarks said appointment of judges in lower courts by administration is against freedom of judiciary mentioned in constitution.
