Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry ordered to resend the LNG contract summary to Economic Coordination Committee (ECC), and advised Prime Minister Gilanis consultation on all the points.The CJ said it is up to the court to look into the matter for transparency in the LNG contract scam.A three-member SC bench comprising Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Justice Chaudhry Ijaz Ahmed and Justice Ghulam Rabbani was hearing a suo motu case over a news regarding the award of a short-term contract for the import of LNG to a French company, GDF Suez, at exorbitant rates on Tuesday. The CJ stressed that no harm should be caused to the country; this is what judiciary wants. Justice Chaudhry Ijaz said it was incumbent upon the Secretary of Petroleum to provide the precise information to Economic Coordination Committee of the Cabinet (ECC), adding the wrong ECC decision was spawned by the incorrect information provided to it. Abdul Hafeez Pirzadah counsel of GDP Suez pleaded the court for more time, saying headway on the SCs suggestions is underway.
