Former DG ISI Lt General Zaheerul Islam retires on completion of his service tenure

RAWALPINDI (Dunya News): Lt General Rizwan Akhtar has assumed charge of Director General (DG) of Pakistan Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).
General Akhtar was serving as DG Sindh Rangers before his promotion to DG ISI.
The fresh DG has studied at Command and Staff College Quetta, National Defense University Islamabad and United States Army War College. General Akhtar joined Pakistan Army Frontier Force Regiment in September 1982.
He has also been a commander of Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) Infantry Brigade and FATA Infantry Division. The new DG ISI has served as General Officer Commanding (GOC) in Southern Waziristan.
General Akhtar has expertise in curtailing terrorism activities.
