Former Additional Director General (DG) FIA, Ahmed Riaz Sheikh was released by police after receiving directives from the Punjab government.According to details the former Additional DG FIA was arrested on March 30, on the directives of Supreme Court of Pakistan. However, he has been released on the directives of Punjab government as President Asif Ali Zardari announced remission in sentences of prisoners.Punjabs Law Minister Rana Sana Ullah said that the provincial government had protested and resisted the Presidential orders because under these directives the sentence of all the criminals including killers, smugglers and corrupt would be reduced however according to the constitution the provincial government was bound to abide by the directives.He said that the provincial government has issued the release orders of 736 prisoners including Ahmed Riaz Sheikh while 36 prisoners have been released immediately.On the other hands former Additional DG, FIA, Ahmed Riaz Sheikh said that he was innocent and it was injustice with him therefore he would publicized the facts soon.He said that NAB was victimizing the people therefore he appealed the Prime Minister to close this institution. In response to a question he said that he would not comment on the judicial verdict however he would contact the court for whatever happened against him.
