Pakistan Army started the largest ever field exercise on the eastern border today for preparedness to face new challenges and give the soldiers the real feel of a warfare mission.The military-exercise, scheduled to be held from April 10 to May 13, will be participated by the soldiers numbering from 20,000 to 50,000 belonging to all arms and services, besides Pakistan Air Force (PAF).The exercise is a culmination of long process of war-games, discussions and logistic evolution of the Concept of Warfare that is fully responsive to a wide menu of emerging threats. This exercise is a concept validation stage of the operational thought manifested in the form of tactical, operational and organizational aspects which would be validated and refined through the lessons learnt over the past. The process commenced with Army War Games named Exercise AZM-E-NAU-2, conducted in February 2010. Pakistan Army follows biennial training system, wherein, training objectives set forth are to be achieved over a span of two years. The training remains mission-oriented based on the obtaining security environment. The training is methodical and progressive, culminating into Map Exercise, War games, field exercises at various levels of command. A special feature of this exercise would be harvesting the technological achievements, advancement in intelligence gathering, surveillance, reconnaissance and communication means that have revolutionized warfare.
