Summary PPP has called party members to discuss electoral reform tomorrow.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has sent a charter of guidelines regarding fair elections to Electoral Reform Committee, seeking more power for implementation of orders. ECP has sought power for implementation of orders equal to High Court. On the other hand, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has called their members to discuss electoral reforms in a meeting to be held tomorrow in Islamabad.
According to the sources, ECP has forwarded their guidelines for transparent elections to Election Reform Committee under constitution.
Commission has also demanded the right to summon any person countrywide to provide documents. It was stated in the guidelines that decisions made by ECP should have equal status as High court.
While PPP has called upon a meeting tomorrow’s evening in which not only the appointment of Chief of Election Commission but also the electoral reforms will be debated.
