KOHAT (Dunya News) — At least three people have been killed and nine injured in a remote-controlled bomb blast near Peshawar Chowk in Kohat on Saturday, Dunya News reported.
Kohat is located about 50 kilometers (30 miles) southwest of Peshawar, the capital of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province.
Two passenger vans were damaged and nine passengers including women and children were injured. The number of people injured in the blast is expected to rise.
The explosive material was planted on the side of the road and it exploded when the vans were passing by. According to sources, the blast took place when the van heading towards Usterzai village reached near the Peshawar Chowk. Police and rescue teams were immediately called in at the sight of the blast.
The injured were taken to Liaqat Memorial Hospital for medical assistance. The area was cordoned off by the security personnel as further investigation into the incident has begun. The main Kohat-Hangu Road has been blocked following the incident.
No one claimed responsibility for the attack.
