Govt upholds media freedom: Gilani

Terming media as the fourth pillar of the state, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has said that the media plays a role of bridge among different institutions of the state.During the oath-taking ceremony at the National Press Club Islamabad on Monday, Gilani said that democratic system is being flourished in the country.He said that the government take media as its sympathizer, however, he added that everything should be done as per rules.Gilani hailed the journalists who played key role in Pakistan movement. The PM said that the government upholds media freedom, and said that no journalist is in police custody. The PM assured that the media persons would be provided with medical facilities.He also announced Rs140million for journalist colonies.
