The Pakistan Electric Power Company (PEPCO) has requested the government to increase the power tariff by six percent.According to sources, the total impact would be in the range of Rs0.19 to Rs1.41 per unit. Increase of Rs 0.47 per unit would be applicable for consumers utilizing 100 units. Similarly increase of Rs 0. 71 per unit would be applicable for consumers utilizing 300 units. The consumers utilizing above 700 units would have to pay an increase of Rs 1.36 per unit.The donors have been calling for an increase in tariff, cut in transmission and distribution losses of power distribution companies and improvement in efficiency of generation plants.
