The issue of hike in transport fares has reached in the National Assembly. Speaker National Assembly Dr Fahmida Mirza urged the fellow parliamentarians to attach more importance to the issues of public importance, saying people upset over price hike were looking toward the Parliament.PML-N leader Ayaz Amir, speaking on a point of order, said that increasing concerns of people about price hike were turning into a protest, the government should pay more attention to the economic policies. Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik told the lower house that he had ordered the police not to open fire on protestors. However, he regretted that fire was opened on the Bhara Kahu demonstrators. Rehman Malik added that the recent hike was done on orders from Rawalpindi transport authority which comes under the supervision of Punjab government.National Vocational and Technical Education Commission Ordinance 2009, NADRA Reforms Ordinance 2009 and Gawadar Port Authority Bill 2010 were presented in the National Assembly. The session has been postponed till March 24.
