Summary

Differences have been surfaced between the government and Parliamentary Committee on Constitutional Reforms (PCCR) on presenting proposed draft of the constitutional package including 18th Amendment in the Parliament. Committee members said that constitutional recommendations have been prepared with consensus of all parties, so the government cannot take all the credit. Law Ministry has given suggestion to the committee that Federal Law Minister Babar Awan should present the draft like a bill in the Parliament. On the other hand, the committee has rejected the idea and decided to hand over the draft of constitutional package to the Speaker National Assembly and said that Speaker Secretariat should distribute draft of package among Parliamentarians. According to sources, members of the committee maintained that the draft is prepared with consensus and the government would not be allowed to take credit.
