EOBI case: There should be rule of law in the country, remarks Justice Khosa
Justice Khosa hears the reviewed case of illegal appointement of EOBI employees.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) -- Justice Asif Saeed Khosa has remarked on the reviewed case of illegal appointement of EOBI employees in Supreme Court today saying that there should be rule of law in the country. If employees continue to be appointed with the use of power then who would decide the fate of the common people, he said.
A five-member bench – headed by Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali – heard the review petitions for the EOBI illegal appointments case today. Lawyer of the EOBI employees, while arguing during the case hearing, took a stance that the court had declared reconsideration of the employees’ case by the administration whereas the administration has sought further petitions. Most of the employees have become over age and due to the new public notice are ineligible to apply for old age benefits. The deputed employees are unable to return to their respective departments.
Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali remarked that he would call the chairman of EOBI to get an update about what has been done for the accomodation of these employees. Legal Director of EOBI informed that the chairman is away for Umrah and will return on July 12.
The deputed employees are not being accepted by their departments. There should be a rule of law in the country, said Justice Khosa. If recruitments are made with the use of influence and power then what would the common people do,he added.
He further argued that the former minister appointed his brother as chairman of EOBI and why have they deputed employees from Sukkur and Mandi Bahauddin only?
In Karachi some cement factory workers were deputed in the police force, and some of them have excelled to the rank of superintendent of police. The case hearing has been adjourned till tomorrow. The lawyer of the petition seekers, Hafeez Pirzadah will present further evidence for the case tomorrow.
