Karachi: NIPW workers protest enters into second day

The apprehended employees of National Programme for Improvement of Watercourses (NPIW) were released after negotiations with Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah, however the workers continued staging protest and sit-in in front of Karachi Press Club after collapse of 24 hours at a stretch, protesting against Sindh government over delay in regularizing the services of employees. The advisor to CM Sindh Rashid Rabbani and Waqar Mehdi were also present during the negotiations.The leader of PML-Q Marvi Memon addressed the protestors, calling upon government to make the services of workers NIPW permanent, she also demanded the suspension orders of the Policemen who baton charged on the protesters. Earlier, the workers of (NPIW) were baton charged and tear-gassed while they were moving towards the Chief Minister (CM) Sindh house.The protest commenced at 11 am on Friday, which is still underway since then. The employees have been recalled for negotiations at 1:00 PM today.We would continue protest until no official letter, says Marvi MemonMarvi Memon was speaking to Dunya News from the site of the protest, where she said that We would sit as long as written proof would not be provided to us. Marvi also said We are happy that other leaders have joined us. Faisal Karim Kundi promised for his support and help.Marvi added.
