TTP claims responsibility for Rawalpindi attack
TTP have claimed responsibility for the attack, says spokesperson.
RAWALPINDI (Dunya News/Agencies) - Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) on Wednesday claimed responsibility for Rawalpindi attack.
A suicide bomber crashed into a double-cabin vehicle of security forces near Rawalpindi on Wednesday, killing two military officers and three civilians.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the military officers were identified as Lieutenant Colonel Zahir Shah and Lieutenant Colonel Arshad Shaheed.
A suspected suicide bomber attacked a security forces vehicle in Rawalpindi, home to army headquarters, killing five people including two officers, a military source said.
The incident took place in the town of Fateh Jang and the identity of the suicide bomber is not known yet.
“A security forces vehicle was targeted, likely by a suicide bomber near Ternol, Rawalpindi,” the source said. “Two officers were martyred and three civilians were killed.”
Earlier, Funeral prayer of two military officers, martyred in a suicide attack near Tarnol on Wednesday, has been offered at Chaklala Garrison.
Prime Minister of Pakistan, Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, Defence Mnister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, General Rashad Mehmood Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, large number of military personnel from three services and people from all walks of life attended the Namaze Janaza of shaheeds.
Later, bodies of Shaheed Colonel Muhammad Zahir and Colonel Arshad Hussain were sent to their ancestral towns where they will be buried with full military honour.
