Summary
The proposed plan for a powerhouse on the Chashma Jhelum link canal is being widely opposed in Sindh, while flow of water in the link canal has also been halved. Earlier, the flow of water in the link canal was 6,000 cusecs, which has been reduced by 3,000 cusecs, for which Punjab gave the plea that cut in water level is part of water management. However, according to Punjab Irrigation Department, the lessening of water indent has nothing to do with the talks with Sindh over the issue. On the other hand, Punjab-Sindh conflict over the water distribution issue still prevailed.Punjab argued that Sindh has submitted an application with Nepra against the building of power house on Chashma-Jhelum canal link, and added that Punjab would accept Nepras decision in this regard. The next session of talks would be held in Lahore, for which the schedule would be finalized soon.
