Taliban Mohmand Agency warn of 'restarted war'

MOHMAND AGENCY (Dunya News) – Outlawed Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan Mohmand Agency’s leader said on Wednesday that the ceasefire between government and Taliban has not been extended, warning this could lead to restart of war against Pakistan, Dunya News reported.
Taliban Mohmand Agency leader Khalid Umar Khurasani alleged that government violated promises during ceasefire period, threatening that government has to bear the consequence.
He further alleged that influential sections of society want the war to continue, reiterating that the government and army are sole responsible for lack of ceasefire-extension.
Talking about former president Pervez Musharraf, he said that Musharraf is being given a safe exit from the country.
He also talked about Pakistan’s defeat in T20 cricket world cup and said Allah caused the defeat to leave the nation crying and mourning.
Earlier, member of Taliban committee Professor Ibrahim stressed that the government should immediately contact the Taliban committee to schedule next meeting, saying that they were waiting for government negotiators’ response for next phase of talks.
Talking to Dunya News here on Wednesday, the Jamat-e-Islami (JI) leader said that the duration of ceasefire between Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and the government has ended and it is necessary to contact Taliban to discuss ceasefire extension.
Professor Ibrahim said that the government should contact the Taliban committee without further delay so that another meeting with Taliban may be arranged.
It merits mentioning here that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had said on last Sunday said that Taliban negotiations process was heading towards positive directions and that nation will soon be given ‘good news.
Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar met Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Saturday to brief him about the developments regarding the Taliban negotiations process.
Reportedly, Ch Nisar explained the developments in details and took Prime Minister into confidence. Government’s next strategy regarding the negotiations also came under discussion. Prime Minister and Interior Minister also discussed the overall national security situations.
