Lahore: Lawyer cripples 14-year-old housemaid
The girl was left with broken limbs when taken to hospital by parents.
LAHORE (Dunya News) – A lawyer along with his wife has crippled by beating their 14-year-old housemaid for leaving the house for personal matter, Dunya News reported.
According to reports, the girl was left with broken limbs when taken to hospital by parents. Police have arrested the man and his wife.
A resident of Sundar, Nasir Advocate had hired young Najma for domestic work for 3000 rupees a month but the couple allegedly treated the girl as slave despite man’s legal background.
Reportedly, the couple has resorted to violence in their treatment with Najma before as well.
A day earlier, when Najma left the house briefly for some personal work, the house owners were enraged. Their violence left Najma with broken limbs.
Police took the offending house owners into custody to initiate investigation while the girl is being treated for injuries at a hospital.
It merits mentioning here that this isn’t a first incident of its kind. Prior to this case, a doctor, trader and even professor were allegedly involved in similar housemaid torture cases.
Incidents of deadly violence on child domestic workers are on the rise and according to police estimates, many such incidents go unreported.
