KARACHI (Web Desk) – Rangers personnel opened fire on a disputing couple, killing husband and injuring wife near Nagan Chowrangi area in Karachi, Dunya News reported on Friday.
According to police, the couple was wildly exchanging hot words, when Rangers personnel allegedly mistook it as looting incident and opened fire on them.
The deceased man was identified as Zeeshan-ud-Din and the woman was identified as Safia.
After the incident, angry protestors blocked Nagan Chowrangi road and shouted slogans against the law enforcers.
Reham Noor, the Rangers man who opened fire on couple, was arrested and shifted to undisclosed location.
Earlier today, at least four people including two workers of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) were gunned down in different areas of Karachi.
Two workers of MQM were gunned down near Nazimabad Gol Market while a woman was shot dead in Gulshan-e-Iqbal. In another incident, a person was killed in a firing incident in Sher Shah.
On the other hand, Rangers personnel conducted targeted operation in Hussain De Silva and arrested several suspects.
Around 300 Rangers personnel including women force participated while entry/exit points were sealed before launching the operation.
