Karachi: Peaceful protests against killing of Shia cleric today
Peaceful protests will be held at all Jamia mosques of Sindh.
KARACHI (Dunya News) - Shia Ulema Council has announced to observe three days of mourning following the killing of their cleric Professor Taqi Hadi Naqvi.
Addressing the press conference, secretary general of Shia Ulema Council Maulana Syed Nazir Abbas Naqvi said the Rangers and police have failed to provide security to citizens despite targeted operations.
He announced to observe three-day mourning against the killing of their leader across Sindh while peaceful protests will be held at all jamia masjids of the province. Moreover, the future course of action will be announced on Sunday.
Prominent religious scholar Allama Taqi Hadi Naqvi was gunned down in North Nazimabad area on Thursday.
According to police, Allama Taqi was riding in an auto rickshaw to his home when unidentified motorcyclists opened firing.
Hadi died on the spot as two of the bullets hit him on the face, police said adding that the motive appeared to be sectarian.
Allma Taqi Hadi Naqvi was author of several books and educational head of Jafria Disaster Cell. A large number of people thronged Abbasi Shaheed Hospital after the incident.
