ISLAMABAD (Dunya News): Jamiat Ulama-e-Islam Sami (JUI-S) chief Maulana Samiul Haq claimed that the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his negotiations committee are sincere but under pressure.
Addressing the media after Taliban’s 3-member committee session, Samiul Haq said that three days have lapsed since Taliban formed the committee and yet the government hasn’t felt the need to contact them.
JUI-S chief claimed that following the lack of response from the government, his committee contacted the government on its own and set the meeting time for today (Tuesday) 2 PM. He further added that right on time the government’s committee retreated saying that some matters are unclear. One of the objections was the number of the new committee as Taliban had formed 5-member committee but now it’s only 3 members therefore the session cannot be proceeded with for now, he said.
Samiul Haq claimed that the foreign pressure has forced the government committee to retreat and US is becoming a hurdle for the negotiation process. He further said that they sincerely want to farther the negotiation process and they are ready whenever the government’s committee is willing to meet.
“The government doesn’t understand the importance of meeting” he claimed, “We want the process to proceed with seriousness”.
Samiul Haq went on to say that the government should be thankful that he is involved and that his doors are open without any negligence. He also said that they are monitoring how serious the government is and that Taliban think they are being played.
Maulana further claimed that there are uncountable forces that don’t want peace in the country, Prime Minister is sincere but is under pressure; it appears that the way is being paved for operation
It is pertinent to mention here that government’s and Taliban’s negotiations committees were scheduled to meet in Islamabad on Tuesday; however prior to the meeting, the government’s committee sought a few clarifications.
