Slain SSP CID had wished for his children to serve the country after getting higher education abroad

KARACHI: (Dunya News) – Talking to Dunya News, widow of slain SSP CID Chaudhry Aslam, Noreen Aslam said that Ch Aslam always told her to fight bravely after his demise as the matters of life and death are very uncertain.
“He also said that the protection of our children is government’s responsibility but send them abroad for higher education so that they can serve the country better afterwards” Mrs Aslam told Dunya News.
She further said her courage is akin to that of Ch Aslam, comparing his bravery and courage to that of a lion.
Determined to carry on his legacy, Mrs Aslam said she has always been involved in the household matters including its security and that she will continue the mission of the slain SSP CID.
“He never let us talk about the threats we faced saying the day of death is a destiny and no one can stop that” added Mrs Aslam.
She further told Dunya News that Ch Aslam had special affection with their youngest son.
Narrating the incident of the unfortunate morning to the media, Mrs Aslam said:
“He came home after a successful raid, and took a nap; I was out when he woke up and when I came back, he was ready to leave again, said he will drop children to school by himself today” she said in a grieving tone.
“He then said he has to go to work as he’d received a call from duty. After a while he called me and said let’s go somewhere else and take a break. I responded I am not in the mood and shortly after that I heard a loud explosion.” added Mrs Aslam while recalling the horror.
“Our lives were not like those of normal people as we never felt safe, he wanted a break for a change.” she added.
“I was well aware of the situation of the city and I am very proud of him. Maybe I could prove to be a brave mother who is willing to let his youngest son follow the path of his father.” she said while exhibiting courage.
“My husband was a man of faith and firmly believed in the fixed time of death… he used to say that moving away cannot put off death as death comes only by the will of God. Life and death is in the hands of God and no one else can bring death upon anyone, he believed.” added Mrs Aslam.
“I warned him that things might go out of hands and the government might not be able to protect us but he said don’t worry, what’s destiny is bound to happen. He was very firm in his faith and I pray to God to keep sending cops like him and give them courage and if even my own sons step ahead after they complete their education, I would only be prouder.” she vowed.
Answering a question about adequate security, she said “Taliban’s threats were for all of us; be it my husband, myself or the children. I won’t talk about security because security was there as it used to be, but who could ever stop a suicide bomber?”
“It’s a slap on their face that they were only able to do this after carrying out a number of cowardly terrorist attacks including that on my house, even I am not afraid of them. When I have to die, I will die, no one can save me and same is true about my kids. My husband has always kept motherland at top priority saying he would rather die for his own motherland than move abroad and dye for a foreign country.” she revealed.
“We never got time to enjoy the amenities of life. He was on mission for past 17 years on call of duty. Everyone including Sindh police knows who I am and how I know how to handle situations like these.” she added.
Mrs Aslam further vowed to stay within Karachi saying “I will stay in Karachi but might move my kids abroad”.
“Whoever wants to kill me, they are free to because I am not afraid of it. When my husband is no more, it doesn’t make a difference if I stay alive or not.” she said in a grieving tone.
She appealed to the nation to keep praying for the wellbeing of the country saying all those sacrifices have been offered for the sake of this motherland.
“I am unsure about the investigation proceedings thus far but I wish the investigation to be transparent and crystal clear. I am holding up very strongly as God has blessed me to the widow of a martyr and a martyr never dies. It’s an honor for me regardless of whether anyone recognizes it or not.” she said while answering a query.
Funeral prayers of the slain SSP CID Chaudhry Aslam took place at Garden Headquarters and prominent personalities were in attendance.
SSP CID Chaudhry Aslam was martyred on Thursday along with 3 security personnel as a bomb detonated at expressway near Essa Nagri cemetery in Karachi.
