Summary Foreign Office Spokesperson Tasnim Aslam was briefing media in Islamabad on Friday.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Giving rumours enough time to spread around the globe, the government finally spoke out on the issue of Musharraf.

The Foreign Office (FO) spokesperson Tasnim Aslam said the issue of former president Pervez Musharraf was an internal matter of Pakistan, adding that the world should not have any concerns over the case.

It is a common practice around the globe that the government informs the public about major incidents and high-profile individuals. However, Pakistan would be the only country where government prefers to remain silent. Following its tradition, Pakistani government remained quiet following reports of Musharraf suffering heart attack.

The media and public anxiously waited for government’s update over Musharraf’s health and if he was to be allowed to leave Pakistan for treatment but no such statement was issued.

Social media was flushed with rumours where some suggested that government was reviewing options to send Musharraf abroad while some politicians expressed their opinion over the incident.

Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party Bilawal Butto Zardari referred to the former military dictator as “coward”.

At micro-blogging website Twitter, he termed Musharraf a coward person in one of his tweets. “I can t believe this coward ever wore the uniform of our brave and courageous armed forces. #disgrace”, he tweeted. Son of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto and former President Asif Ali Zardari also expressed his concern about the authenticity of the incident insisting on an independent medical board to verify his sickness. “All medical excuses must be verified by an independent board of doctors. I have an ouchy is no excuses to skip your treason case”, PPP chairman tweeted.

Furious over defense counsels assertions of the special court, Bilal added “Having witnessed the Article 6 trial proceedings, it s clear that the defence team intends to fight the court, not the case,” Bilawal also demanded all culprits, who had supported Musharraf for his extra-constitutional acts, to be brought to justice. “#WhyOnlyMusharraf ? Its not only Musharraf. Its just 1st Musharraf thn the rest.Every1 shld b entitled 2 fair trial. No 1 should b above d law”, he tweeted. Chairman PPP also criticized some media outlets for misquoting him and clarified his stance insisting on the need of fair trial. ‘Political differences aside.Musharraf deserves fair trial not media trial or twitter trial.Test 4 democracy&judiciary. advise he faces court’ said his recent tweet. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari often attracts criticism from various political factions for his outspoken tweets which are often perceived as inflammatory. Only a few days ago, during Bilawal House wall protests, Bilawal and PTI chief Imran Khan turned to Twitter to taken on each other and hurled heated tweets. Twitter has become one of the actively used media for many political figures.
