Inspector General (IG) Police Punjab, Tariq Saleem Dogar has said that Chief Secretary has presented himself for investigations into the Col(R) Ikram case. IG also said that the criminals involved in the murder of Shazia belong to a pressure group, but he hopes that the court would conduct a fair trial and give justice to Shazia. Addressing a news conference in Lahore, IG said that in Colonel Ikram case the driver is the culprit instead of the Chief Secretary and action would be taken against him in accordance with the law. He also said that action would be taken against Server Road Police Station for not allowing media coverage. IG Punjab also claimed that many criminals plotting acts of terrorism have been arrested after information from the locals.Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain went to condole with the family of Col(R) Ikram. He said law is equally applicable on everyone and appropriate action must be taken against those responsible for the murder. Shujaat said that the behavior of the Police and the Chief Secretary is disappointing. Col(R) Ikram-ul-Haq died after being hit by the car of Chief Secretary and a case has been filed against his driver Gulham Mustafa. Court has granted bail to the convicted driver.Advocate Naeem, the alleged murderer of Shazia is in Police custody, while his family members have been granted temporary bail by the court yesterday. To show support and solidarity to Advocate Naeem a strike call had been issued in the courts in under Lahore Bar, but only an unsuccessful partial strike was observed for two hours. In a press conference in Multan the Executive body officers from High Court Bar and District Court Bar have said, no one is above the law. If a lawyer breaks a rule, he should also be dealt in accordance with the law. The lawyers should stay neutral in Shazias case. January 28 call for strike has been postponed until February 14.
