Lawyers movement announces countrywide strike on 28 Jan

Lawyers movement has decided to observe a countrywide strike on January 28, due to delay of appointment of judges. Supreme Court Bar President Qazi Muhammad Anwar has said that all the recommendations of Chief Justice must be immediately implemented. A meeting was held with the National Rabata Committee in the Hall for martyrs of Karachi in Lahore High Court. After the meeting speaking to media Qazi said that the government is trying to initiate a conflict with the courts by not implementing the decision on NRO.Qazi Anwar also said that lawyers are in full support of the Chief Justice regarding the new appointment of judges. He also demanded the government to take action on all the recommendations made by the Supreme Court.Qazi said that next meeting would be held in Rawalpindi on February 13 to discuss the future strategy and Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudary would also be present that day. Lawyers are not as powerful as Political Parties, says Fauzia PPP secretary information Fauzia Wahab has said that the lawyers are not more powerful then the political parties. If the lawyers succeed once does not mean they would succeed again.Fauzia was speaking to media in Lahore, she also said that a false image is being portrayed that President Zardari is being surrounded on NRO issue. President Zardari has constitutional immunity. She said that in the detailed verdict on NRO action is taken against those who are not holding office anymore.Fauzia also said that appointment of judges is not an issue that concerns the masses for no reason. The appointment of judges is being politicized. Fauzia said the government is working in accordance with Al-Jihad trust. She also said that political issues cannot be discussed on roads. She said the lawyers should be clear that Every day is not Sunday.
