Abducted Dr Manaf Tareen recovered from Balochistan

Kidnappers dropped Dr Manaf Tareen, who was abducted from Quetta, in Uthal area of Balochistan.

QUETTA (Dunya News) – Veteran cardiologist Dr Abdul Manaf Tareen, who spent two and half months in abduction, was recovered from Uthal area of Balochistan s Lasbela district on Sunday.

Unknown kidnappers dropped Dr Manaf at a petrol pump station in Uthal around 4AM today.

Soon after his recovery by police, the kidnapped doctor was shifted to Karachi from D.P.O Uthal House.

According to reports, Dr Manaf would return to Quetta after undergoing treatment in Karachi.

 

Background

Dr Manaf was kidnapped on the evening of September 17, 2013 from Sariab Road. An abduction case was registered at Bijli Road police station by his colleague Dr Daud Shah.

The doctor fraternity also boycotted outdoor patient departments (OPDs) of all public hospitals in the provincial capital Quetta following the abduction of Dr Manaf.

In October, the security forces conducted raids for his recovery and nabbed several suspects. However, the doctor couldn’t be located.

Dr Manaf was running a private hospital after being retired from Bolan Medical College and Civil Hospital Quetta.
