The Supreme Court Tuesday put off hearing till February 1 of a case regarding alleged corruption of former Attorney General for Pakistan Sardar Latif Khan Khosa. Justice Mian Shakirullah Jan, heading a three-member bench, refused to dispose of the case without hearing version of Attorney General for Pakistan Anwar Mansoor Khan who was not available in the proceedings due to his appearance before a High Court bench at Karachi. Ali Zafar, counsel for Khosa, contended that Court had no jurisdiction to look into matters regarding misconduct of lawyers and it should be referred to a appropriate forum. He stressed that only Pakistan Bar Council had the original jurisdiction as the Body. He prayed to court to refer the matter to Pakistan Bar Council. Justice Mian Shakirullah Jan observed that it was a case of significance and could not be disposed off without hearing AG. The bench resumed hearing on a complaint of Maghfoor Shah, former general manager of National Highway Authority (NHA). Shah, who was convicted in a NAB case, had accused Khosa of taking Rs 3 million as bribe from him for getting a decision in his favour during tenure of justice retired Abdul Hameed Dogar.But he was sentenced five-year imprisonment and fined over Rs 3 million and $200,000 respectively. While in the application filed under Order 33, Rule 6, of the Supreme Court Rules 1980, Khosa termed allegations as false and slanderous.
