KARACHI (Online) - Sindh government has filed petition in Supreme Court (SC) seeking extension in the schedule for holding Local Bodies (LB) polls.
Advocate General (AG) Sindh Khalid Javed filed the petition on behalf of Sindh government in SC Karachi registry Friday.
The petitioner took the plea in the petition that Sindh government is committed to provide all facilities to Election Commission (EC) for holding LB polls in Sindh but it is facing certain serious problems on this count. Process of delimitation of constituencies has been completed in Sindh and appeals filed in this regard cannot be heard before November, 13.
EC will be facing difficulties in sending election related material due to Muharram ul Haram holidays, the petition said. EC has set November 27 for conducting LB polls under the orders of SC but it is not possible to hold elections on the appointed dates. Therefore December 7 be set for holding LB polls in Sindh like the other provinces, petition added.
Sindh government prayed the court to hear the petition immediately on November 11.
