The Senate session Wednesday witnessed uproar over the issue of missing persons, followed by a token walk out by parliamentarians being dissatisfied with the statement of Interior Minister. Chairman Senate Farooq H. Naek asked the Interior Minister to hold meetings with the Parliamentarians who were concerned about the missing persons and satisfy them. Parliamentarians mostly from Balochistan and NWFP including Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri, Maulana Sherani, Shahid Bugti, Ismail Bulehdi, Tariq Azeem, Hafiz Rasheed and Haji Ghulam Ali raised the issue of missing persons on point of order and expressed their concern in this regard. The Interior Minister said that both Balochistan and NWFP provinces were facing war like situation and there is the involvement of India to destabilize the country. He said that efforts were underway to recover all the missing persons but the delay is causing due to incomplete data of the missing persons. He said that the list provided by BLA of 6,000 missing Balochis was baseless. Malik said the issue of missing persons was started during the previous government but the present government is sincerely working to resolve it and recover all of them. The Chairman Senate on the request of concerned parliamentarians, who also staged walk out from the House, asked the Interior Minister to hold meetings with the parliamentarians and take them into confidence over the issue.
