Doctors continue to boycott OPDs in Quetta

Summary PMA is observing strike against abduction of renowned cardiologist Manaf Tareen.

QUETTA (Dunya News) - Doctors in the provincial capital continue boycott of OPDs for four hours a day against the abduction of Dr Abdul Manaf Tareen. The boycott is being observed on the call of Pakistan Medical Association and other medical associations.

Renowned cardiologist Dr Abdul Manaf Tareen was kidnapped on Sep 17 from the Pishin Stop area of the city.

Balochistan chapter PMA leaders said that they would continue their protests until the safe return of Dr.Tareen. The Chairman of PMA Steering committee and senior cardiologist, Dr Haqdad Tareen deplored that people associated with the noble profession of heath are facing serious security risk in Balochistan.

Meanwhile, Sindh government has suspended 40 doctors across the province for being absent from duties for long time.

According to Secretary Health Inamullah Dharejo, all of those suspended were assigned duties in government hospitals across the province.

Besides these, he said, another 23 doctors were dismissed from duties for being incompetent.
