General Kayani will hold charge of CJSC: Rashid
New CJCS will be appointed within 30 days, says Pervez Rashid.
(Web Desk) - Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid today (Monday) said the army chief General Ashfaq Pervaiz Kayani holds the post of Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee at the moment.
Talking to media in Islamabad‚ the minister said that all the appointments to the senior military posts will be made in accordance with the Constitution and law.
"According to constition New CJCS should be appointed withing 30 days. So, the government has decided to followthe constitutional framework," he added.
The minister also said that said PML-N government believes in independent and responsible media as freedom of expression is policy of the government. He said that freedom of expression will become a law very soon.
He said that citizens and businessmen in Karachi seem to be satisfied with the situation. He said that situation will improve in the coming days because serious efforts for restoration of peace in the city have been made for the first time.
