Summary Bench summoned DG IB over withdrawal of secret fund in 1990 and 2008 to topple Punjab govt.

ISLAMABAD (Online) - Supreme Court has summoned DG Intelligence Bureau on the matter of withdrawal of Rs 500 million from the secret fund in 1990 and 2008 to topple Punjab government.

The three member bench of Supreme Court under the supervision of Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry resumed the hearing of the case on Monday.

During proceeding Attorney General Munir A. Malik told the bench that IB has submitted the reply in the court in which it is said that the organization had not released Rs 400 million.

The CJP asked AG to explain the reason that inspite the court orders why the audit of Rs 400 million was not conducted so far.

The bench directed Attorney General to review the entire matter by keeping the report of former DG IB Col. Iqbal Niazi top secret. The court adjourned the hearing for one week.
