Summary Karachi police had arrested Nadeem Hashmi in a case of two policemen’s murder in North Nazimabad.

KARACHI (Dunya News) - Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s former member of Sindh Assembly, Nadeem Hashmi has been released for lack of sufficient evidence.

Karachi police had arrested Nadeem Hashmi in a case of two policemen’s murder in North Nazimabad last week, drawing strong protest from the MQM.

A case was lodged against the former lawmaker and proceedings carried out in an anti-terrorism court. However, according to sources, the accused was released today for lack of sufficient evidence.

Joint investigation team Tuesday submitted a report to IG Sindh in which it has been stated that no substantial evidence could be gathered against Nadeem Hashmi.

It may be remembered that the arrest of Nadeem Hashmi had sparked violence in Karachi, suspending socio-economic activities in the port city on Wednesday resulting in billions of loss.
