Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani Tuesday reiterated his governments commitment to restore the 1973 Constitution to its original form. The Prime Minister was addressing a ceremony at the Prime Minister House Islamabad to celebrate the 82nd birth anniversary of PPP founder and late prime minister Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto. He said Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto gave the 1973 Constitution and after the fall of Dhaka, Pakistan continue to exist because of this document. It is responsibility of everybody to strengthen the Constitution, he added. He pledged to continue the mission of Zulfiqar Bhutto, protect the Constitution and reorganize the party on strong footing.Zulfiqar Bhutto made Pakistan a nuclear power and this capability guarantees the countrys security, he added.He said Pakistan is a responsible nuclear state and every person is ready to uphold the countrys sovereignty and integrity and defend its borders. He recounted that Zulfiqar Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto struggled against dictatorship and fought for rights of the people. Gilani assured that the government would implement its manifesto of Roti, kapra and makaan and protect rights of the masses.He said Zulfiqar Bhutto introduced the programme of giving ownership rights to landless people.The scheme has been taken forward by the present government and recently President Asif Zardari gave away land in Sindh, he added. He said as the biggest party of Pakistan, PPP is the symbol of federation and has organizational structure all over the country, in Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.Calling Bhutto an epoch changing personality, the Prime Minister said the PPP founder struggled to change the system and introduced the concept of one man one vote.Zulfiqar Bhutto came with the slogan that people were the fountainhead of power and their vote is sacred. Shaheed Bhutto told people how to wage struggle for their rights, restored their self-respect, gave them recognition and worked to reduce class differences.Federal ministers, members of parliament and office bearers of Peoples Party attended the ceremony.
