Summary The apex court made it clear that derogatory words against judiciary are unbearable.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The Supreme Court on Wednesday resumed hearing of contempt of court case against Imran Khan and ordered PTI chairman to review his stance regarding comments on returning officers.

Justice Anwar Zahir Jamali was of the view that Imran should keep in view his political status. If an illiterate man had uttered such words, it would have been a trifle matter but Mr Khan is constantly insisting on this version in this regard; even he is not ready to regret over the usage of word’ shameful’.

Furthering his remarks, the Justice said that Pakistan Tehrik e Insaf worker should try to convince their leader that his attitude towards court is objectionable.

Imran Khan’s counsel Hamid Khan argued that the court should show some leniency towards his client as he did not underestimate the court or used any derogatory word against judiciary. The word ‘shameful’ should be viewed with the reference to the context.

Upon this, Justice Aijaz Chaudhry said that if the word ‘shameful’ is not derogatory, “you should convince the court. If we announce judgment that the word ‘shameful’ is not inappropriate, it would become an example and lawyers and experts would use it as a citation”, said Justice Aijaz.

Justice Aijaz justified that if it had been a personal matter, he would have forgiven it, but here the situation is totally different as it is matter of an institute. “It is diametrically unbearable for the court if anybody terms it ‘shameful’, commented the apex court’s Justice.

The court while showing its dissatisfaction has ordered the PTI chairman to review his remarks regarding courts.
On the other hand, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaaf Chairman Imran Khan on Wednesday said that his party endeavoured more than any other political party for independence of Supreme Court which is guarantor of human liberties.

He said that apology is sought when someone commits any mistake. “I have not violated any wrong thing regarding rule of law”, said Khan.

While talking to the media, he said that he round about 400 petitions have been filed in the election tribunal regarding rigging in polls. Being a politician, I have great concern over it that rigging in election 2013 has broken all record of corruption.

Last day, Imran Khan had moved his reply in the apex court by his counsel Hamid Khan, with the stance that he had not used any uncivilized wording against the Supreme Court; rather he criticized returning officer who became tools in the hands of corrupt politicians.
