Great upset in by-elections
Major political parties of the country suffered upset defeats in bye-elections held on Thursday.
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Major political parties suffered upset defeats in bye-elections held on 41 National Assembly and provincial assemblies seat on Thursday.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) suffered upset defeat on two important constituencies – NA-1 Peshawar and NA-71 Mianwali – which were won by its chairman Imran Khan in the general election. These seats are won by the ANP and PML-N candidates.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) also suffered upset defeat in DG Khan and Rajanpur where PTI candidates won the Punjab Assembly seats which were vacated by Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and PML-N’s senior leader Sardar Zaulfiqar Khan Khosa after general elections.
For the 15 National Assembly seats on which bye-polls were held, the PML-N won five seats followed by PPP three and PTI two seats. The ANP, PkMAP and MQM won one seat each for the National Assembly. The result of NA-5 and NA-27 were withheld.
In Punjab Assembly constituency PP-6 Rawalpindi‚ Chaudhry Sarfraz Afzal of PML (N) has won bagging thirty thousand and sixty five votes. His rival Wasiq Abbasi of PTI secured twenty one thousand six hundred and twenty votes.
In NA-68 Sargodha‚ Shafqat Baloch of PML-N won by bagging 69‚431 votes.
Independent Tariq Magsi won from PB-32 Jhal Magsi.
In PP 123 Sialkot‚ Khawaja Mansha Ullah Butt of PML-N has won by securing 21‚869 votes defeating Liaqat Ali Ranjha of PTI who bagged 6‚979 votes.
PP 118 Mandi Bahauddin‚ Akhtar Abbas Bosal of PML-N won by securing 31‚305 votes.
In PP-243 Dera Ghazi Khan‚ Ahmed Ali Dareshak of PTI won by bagging 22‚943 votes beating Sardar Hassam Uddin of PML-N who got 18‚635 votes.
In NA-1 Peshawar‚ Ghulam Ahmed Bilour of ANP won by securing 29‚189 votes defeating Gul Badshah of PTI who got 19‚769 votes.
In PK-27 Mardan‚ Independent Jamshed Mohmand won by bagging 37‚886 votes beating Fazl-e-Rabbani of Jamaat-e-Islami who secured 10‚135 votes.
In NA43 Swabi‚ Aaqibullah Khan of PTI has won by getting 35‚749 votes.
In PS-95 Karachi‚ Muhammad Hussain of MQM has won defeating Jamil Zia of PPP.
In PS-103‚ Abdul Rauf Siddiqui of MQM won by bagging 24‚938 votes.
In PP-193‚ Khurram Wattoo of PPP emerged successful by security 41‚426 votes.
In NA-71 Mianwali PML-N s Obaidullah Shadikhel has won securing 95091 votes. PTI Chief Imran Khan had vacated this seat.
