DERA ISMAIL KHAN (Dunya News) - Life returned to normalcy after curfew in Dera Ismail Khan and Tank was lifted following Tuesday s attack on central prison.

During the curfew, the police and security forces carried out search operations in several areas to arrest the escaped prisoners and militants. However, no arrest was reported.
Due to the imposition of curfew, a shortage of edible items was reported in the area while the locals were forced to stay in homes.
Dozens of heavily-armed Pakistani Taliban insurgents freed nearly 175 inmates, including 35 ‘high-profile militants’, during a brazen overnight attack on the central jail in Dera Ismail Khan on Tuesday, officials said.
At least nine people, including four policemen and five militants, were killed in the attack and the following shootout.
Meanwhile, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has commissioned an inquiry into the attack.
The committee will comprise Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Senior Member Board of Revenue Waqar Ayub, KP Home and Tribal Affairs Department Special Secretary Syed Alamgir Shah, Additional Inspector General Police (Special Branch) Syed Akhtar Ali Shah and representative of Pakistan Army (Headquarters 11 Corps).
The terms of reference of the committee are to unearth the facts leading to the incident and those responsible for it.
