ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - According to the National Transmission And Despatch Company Limited (NTDC) statistics, electricity shortfall has reached 3,000 megawatts on Monday.

The electricity demand stood at about 16,500MW against generation of about 13,500MW, an NTDC official said.


IPPs are generating 6,200MW, hydel power sources 5,500MW and thermal plants are producing 1,850MW of electricity.

As per details, rural areas are facing load shedding for over 10 hours while urban areas are suffering up to 7 hours of power cuts.

Long and unannounced phases of load shedding has made lives of people miserable as prolonged outages have resulted in shortage of drinking water in several areas.
