Federal Minister for Interior Rehman Malik said on Tuesday he proved that the government doesnt confront the judiciary by appearing before the court. He vowed to appear in any court that summons him in future also.Talking to media in Islamabad, Rehman Malik said the public is watching that on one hand, there are people who got their billions of rupees of loans written-off, and on the other hand our cases. Prime Minister Gilani congratulated me right after I came out of the court. I appeared before the court on directions of my leadership. Malik said false cases were filed against PPP leadership. PPP is a public party therefore its leadership is being targeted. I forgive those who filed false cases against me. The interior minister told that PPP is still organized despite all the challenges being faced.Answering a question about incident of preventing Defence Minister Ahmed Mukhtar at Islamabad airport, Rehman Malik said it happened due to mistake by airport staff. The list sent by NAB did not have his name; Ahmed Mukhtars name was in the older Exit Control List (ECL). He said such mistakes cant be tolerated. To a question about Taliban Malik said he has always called Taliban as Zaliman, however, government has broken the backbone of terrorists network and they are on the run. He said Taliban are now planning to target media, adding that he condemns this approach. Maliks counsel Chaudhry Mushtaq told the court that Rehman Malik was convicted in the cases in absentia, and requested the court to suspend the terms as nobody could be convicted in absentia. CJ LHC Justice Khawaja made a query that how come the petition being filed after a lapse of so many years.The court, however, suspended all the sentences after hearing the arguments and adjourned the court till January 11.While talking to the reporters after the hearing, Rehman denied all the corruption charges saying that had he committed any corruption, he would have resigned. Meanwhile, Karachi Accountability Court has summoned the Interior Minister on January 8.
