Despite govt claims, several areas faced electricity load shedding during sehar and iftar timings.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on Monday took suo moto notice of electricity load shedding during Sehar and Iftar timings in Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA).

The CJP took notice on a letter sent by Senator Hilal-ur-Rehman from Mohmand Agency.

It was mentioned in the report locals in FATA are suffering 20 hours of power outages every day.

In this regard, the Chief Justice has sought report from the National Transmission and Despatch Company (NTDC).

It may be mentioned here that Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Pervez Rasheed had announced that electricity load shedding will not be carried out across the country during Sehar, Iftar and Taraweeh timings during the holy month of Ramazan.

Electricity shortages, which have plagued Pakistan for years, have reached crisis proportions. Lights go out for at least 8 hours a day in major cities, and up to 12 hours a day in rural areas.
