Summary PPP nominates Raza Rabbani and PTI presents Justice retd Wajjehuddin as presidential candidates.


ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – Pakistan People’s Party has proposed the name of Raza Rabbani as the candidate for the presidential polls.


This was announced by PPP leader Makhdoom Amin Fahim in a press conference here Friday.


Amin Fahim said the party leadership and workers have supported Senator Raza Rabbani.


On the other hand Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has proposed the name of Justice retd Wahehuddin as its candidate for the president of Pakistan slot.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has announced that Justice (retd) Wajiuddin Ahmed will be its candidate for the presidential election.


The decision was taken after consultations with the senior leadership, said a spokesman.


Earlier, the Leader of the Opposition in the Parliament Khurshid Shah had contacted PTI s Deputy Leader Shah Mahmood Qureshi who had suggested there could be a joint Opposition Candidate not affiliated to any political party but of national standing.


However later the PPP announced their Party candidate. PMLN leadership had also contacted PTI with a view to seeking support for their candidate.
However, the PTI consensus was to put up its own candidate. Hence PTI s leadership


Meanwhile, it has been learnt that Federal Minister for Water and Power and Pakistan Muslim League N leader Khawaja Asif has contacted leader of the opposition Khursheed Shah on telephone and discussed upcoming presidential polls.


Media reports claimed that during their conversation, Khawaja Asif spoke about 3 candidates, shortlisted by PML N, for the slot of President.


They included Sartaj Aziz, Saeeduz Zaman Siddiqi, and Mamnun Hussain.


Responding to the discussion, sources claimed, Khursheed Shah said he would respond after consulting his party leadership.
