SC rejects Rangers report on Karachi situation

Summary The court expressed displeasure over the report being not signed by DG Rangers.

 

KARACHI (Online) - Supreme Court has remarked Rangers report on Karachi situation is eyewash.

 

SC observed “if need be DG Rangers can be summoned on July, 17. Will Rangers abolish armed wings of political parties through invitations? The court will have to resort to such a person for investigations in corruption cases who himself is involved in corruption”.


SC bench led by Justice Anwar Zahir Jamali and comprising Justice Khilji Arif Hussain and Justice Amir Hani Muslim took up Karachi violence case for hearing Monday.

 

At the inception of hearing the court sought the investigation report on hardened culprits who escaped from Anti Terrorism Court.

 

Justice Khilji Arif Hussain inquired from police authorities “hard core culprits have escaped from ATC. What you have done on this count. The sections laid down in FIR are bail able. The accused fled from the site wherefrom kitten can not pass.

 

Justice Amir Hani Muslim observed the life of inmates of Lyaris has been made miserable unfortunately at present.

 

Justice Khilji Arif Hussain remarked “ people of Lyari have been forced to migrate and we have become tired now hearing the tales of police.

 

Counsel for Rangers filed Rangers report in the court.

 

The court expressed displeasure over the report being not signed by DG Rangers and remarked “ If Director General Rangers are so much busy that he has no time to sign the documents.

 

Justice Arif Hussain inquired from Rangers counsel “from where arms flow into Lyari. They reach there due to your weakness or your cooperation.

 

Justice Amir Hani Muslim remarked “ as per DG Rangers, Police is involved in deteriorated situation of Karachi.

 

The court summoned IG Sindh. Counsel for police filed reply in the court saying IG Sindh is unwell therefore, he can not appear in the court.

 

Justice Amir Hani Muslim observed “he becomes unwell whenever we come here.

 

On the matter of compilation of land record afresh, Chairman Land Commission Nazar Muhammad Leghari told the court 180 villages are left more, the record of which has not been compiled.

 

Justice Anwar Zahir Jamali remarked “name of the officers who are impeding the implementation of SC orders be presented in the court. They will be issued show cause notices.

 

Justice Amir Hani Muslim expressed wonder over appointment of former senior member of Board of Revenue Shah Zar Shamon as chairman anti corruption remarking “who inducted him as chairman Anti Corruption. We will have to approach in connection with investigation into corruption cases the person who himself is involved in corruption”.

 

The hearing of the case was adjourned till July 17.
