PPP-MQM differences on local govt persist

Differences between PPP and MQM continues on local government system as Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has handed over a draft comprising proposals regarding the local government system to the core committee of Pakistan Peoples Party, reported Dunya News on Sunday.According to sources, a meeting of MQM and PPPs core committee was held in Karachi regarding the future of local government system. Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis Dr. Farooq Sattar and Syed Sardar Ahmed along with other MQM leaders attended the meeting; whereas, Agha Siraj Durrani, Pir Mazhar ul Haq and other leaders participated from PPP. MQM has suggested the government to hold local government elections under the supervision of present Nazims and appoint administrators from sitting Nazims after the completion of local governments term, sources reveled.
