Summary
Supreme Court of Pakistan on Thursday has issued contempt of court notice to Federal Minister for Interior Rehman Malik for transferring former Director General FIA Tariq Khosa. Chief Justice said court will not tolerate interference in its proceedings. Supreme Court has called an explanation from Rehman Malik on December 24. Former DG FIA Tariq Khosa was assisting the apex court in Steel Mills embezzlement case but he was transferred and a joint team was constituted to probe corruption in Steel Mills. Acting Attorney General Shah Khawar, during todays hearing, told the court that the government is ready to appoint Tariq Khosa as Secretary Law, however, the superior court rejected not only this suggestion but request for further time as well. The court said whatever government wants to do, it should be done today otherwise court will go ahead with its action. Chief Justice expressed anger over Rehman Maliks interference saying that Tariq Khosa was working on cases raised by SC itself and Malik had no right to intrude.
