Summary At least three people were killed when heavy rain hit Islamabad and Rawalpindi on Friday night.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Islamabad, Rawalpindi and adjoining areas received heavy rain on Friday night, leaving three people dead and four others injured.
According to details, an under construction guest house collapsed in Pir Wadhai area due to heavy downpour, killing two people and injuring four others. The dead and injured were shifted to Holy Family Hospital.
Another man was killed in Dhoke Sayadan area when roof of a house collapsed due to rain.
The heavy downpour which started on Friday night inundated low-lying areas, causing difficulties to residents.
Flight schedule at the Islamabad Airport was also disturbed due to rain and three flights were diverted to Lahore while Motorway was also shut down at the Salt Range near Kallar Kahar.
According to Met Office, 59mm of rain was recorded in Islamabad and Rawalpindi while Saidu Sharif received 44mm of rain, Kakool 26, Murree 25 and Balakot 21mm of rain.
According to Met Office, the recent rain spell in twin cities, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, upper Punjab and Kashmir will continue till Sunday.
More rain is expected in Islamabad, Lahore, Upper and central Punjab, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan during next 12 hours.
