SC reserves judgment on pleas to sue Musharraf

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Thursday reserved its judgment on petitions regarding high treason charges against former military ruler General (retd) Pervez Musharraf.

 

A three-member bench of the apex court headed by Justice Jawwad S. Khwaja heards the case. 

 

The verdict will be declared on an appropriate time, the bench announced. 

 

Earlier today, Attorney General Munir A. Malik informed told court that an investigation team will be constituted shortly to probe emergency imposed by former President Pervez Musharraf on Novemebr 3, 2007.

 

The Attorney General said the Prime Minister has issued necessary directives to the Interior Secretary to constitute an investigation team.

 

He said a commission will also be set up to oversee the entire investigation process.

 

On the other hand, Pervez Musharraf also submitted his reservations to the court regarding treason trial against him. 

 

Musharraf s counsel submitted a five-page statement before the bench, stating that former ruler had apprehensions that he would not get a fair trial from the current judiciary.
